Twitch's new guidelines have not been well-received.....First, let's talk about the new rules for user-created ads. Here are the big new changes:- On-stream logos are limited to 3% of screen size.- Burned-in video Ads are NOT allowed.- Burned-in Display Ads are NOT allowed.- Burned-in Audio Ads are NOT allowed. With creator income dwindling alongside Twitch's increased split percentages, sponsors are a big reason why creators are able to still maintain financial stability. These changes could majorly impact the finances of many streamers. The other big thing that came with the new guidelines is the fact that it is now against ToS to simulcast to another platform, regardless of whether or not you monetize. In today's live-streaming landscape, this restriction is absolutely dated.Every new set of guidelines makes Twitch appear more platform-first than creator-first.Now more than ever, creators should not be loyal or beholden to any platform. These platforms are exactly what they are. Use them as such, and remember that, no matter which platform you're on, you control your brand.#streaming #creatoreconomy #twitch

Attention, Twitch streamers! 🎮New rules have landed:▶ On-stream logos are limited to 3% of screen size ▶ Burned-in video ads are not allowed ▶ Burned-in display ads are not allowed ▶ Burned-in audio ads are not allowedBut here's something to think about:Twitch shares revenue 50/50 with creators, while other platforms offer up to 95%, like Kick. And after Amazon laid off more than 25,000 employees this year, including Twitch staff, are these new rules a way to avoid more job cuts, keep the business sustainable and advertisers happy? So, what's next:1) Will we see more creators and sponsors moving to different platforms? 2) Will these changes improve Twitch's ads business?Drop your thoughts below 💬👇#Twitch #Streaming

🚨 Breaking News from Twitch! After all the drama over the last week on the revised ad guidelines (that were subsequently walked back), Twitch just announced this morning their new "Partner Plus Program."📝 What it means for Twitch streamers:💰 Opportunity for higher subscription revenue split for streamers earning below $100K/year in subscription revenue - increased revenue share to 70/30 (up from 50/50).The requirements for entry into the Partner Plus Program are fairly low, which is great for developing content creators on Twitch. For larger creators that are already on a 70/30 split (up to $100K in annual subscription revenue), no impact. They already have the benefits of this program. The largest creators on Twitch still won't see a better revenue split on their six figure earnings.📝 Why it matters:Twitch's relationship with its streamers has hit an all-time low this year. This is the type of momentum they need to garner more support from the creators that make their platform possible. While it's a potentially small step in some creators' minds, this is a big win for Twitch and a highly sought after change from its recent anti-creator policies.#twitchstreamers #creatoreconomy #streaming

Twitch streamer "xQc" has signed a ~$70M NON-EXCLUSIVE 2-year deal with the new streaming platform, Kick. That's about as large as the two-year contract extension Lebron James signed with the Lakers. It's the talk of the town, and rightfully so. It's the largest streaming deal ever. It's trending on Twitter, everyone gaming outlet is writing about it, Youtube videos are being made, and it's being picked up on 'traditional' media as well. Will it pay off? Time will tell. But it's a bold move in my opinion considering Microsoft's Mixer tried the same approach with Ninja and failed. At that time, it was also an industry first. It might not have been as large of a sum, but it was garnering the same publicity as this deal.In 2018, Ninja's average viewership was ~57K CCV. After joining Mixer, he averaged ~12K for the rest of 2019. It's incredibly hard to bring viewers to another streaming platform once the hype dies down. However, that was an exclusive deal. The non-exclusivity approach is what's really interesting and wise from Kick, assuming Twitch doesn't change their rules. XQc can receive an additional ~$30M from incentives. So right now, he goes live on Twitch (as shown below) promotes the Kick URL, and swaps over. Any guesses on how long it takes for Twitch to implement rules to forbid something like this?In the last 30 days, xQc has averaged 54,556 CCV on Twitch. I'm curious to see what the numbers will look like the next 30 days on Kick.Regardless, congrats to Felix and Evolved!

https://lnkd.in/eqAgNDHgTwitch will let streamers ban users from watching their streamsTwitch is rolling out an update next month that will finally allow streamers to block banned users from viewing their streams. Currently, Twitch allows you to ban users from the chat section of a stream, but they can still view streams.Twitch revealed earlier this week, during its Patch Notes stream, that a new setting will be available for streamers in September that will boot people out of chat and live streams in real time. Banned users will automatically be blocked from viewing streams, a long-requested feature that streamers have been waiting years for.The new Twitch ban feature. Image: Twitch“At the time being it won’t stop them from viewing VODs or clips, but that is something we also want to include as part of this functionality... in a future update,” said Twitch senior product manager Trevor Fisher during the Patch Notes stream earlier this week. While this is a welcome feature, particularly for tackling harassment, Twitch still allows anyone to watch streams without an account. So if someone is banned they can simply log out of the service or use a browser incognito window to continue watching a st...
